Self-Catering Holiday Gite Accommodation - Charente - West France

Gite for Holiday Rental in the Charante
The Gites in the Charente

Two luxury self-catering Gites, sleeping 4 and 6 people respectively, set amongst vineyards and sunflower fields in the Charente region of western France. The Gites are in the quiet, picturesque village of Saint Palais du Né, approximately 45 minutes from Bordeaux, 1 hour from La Rochelle and 1 hour from the long sandy beaches of the Atlantic Coast; in an area of France renowned for its wonderful climate.

The gites provide an excellent base from which to explore, discover and enjoy the foods, wines, sightseeing, walking, cycling and water sports that this corner of France has to offer. The market town of Cognac, home to Remy Martin, Martell and others is just 15 minutes drive away; whilst the historic town of St. Emilion and the Bordeaux wine-producing region is within easy reach. Closer to hand, the town of Archiac is just 3km away for your morning croissants and Barbezieux (10km) has more extensive shopping facilities.

The properties, named Les Deux Marronniers after the two stunning mature chestnut trees in the garden, benefit from a southwest facing position, are set within a private walled courtyard garden and have lovely views over open countryside. Built in 1835 as part of a working farm, the gites became part of a religious college at the beginning of the 1900s and were later returned to farm status.

Guests have sole use of a newly built 10m x 5m swimming pool situated at the opposite end of the courtyard in a separate enclosed private garden which is surrounded by a large terrace with comfortable sun loungers. There is also a lovely shaded seating area perfect for relaxing with a long cool drink and a good book. The pool is fitted with an EU regulation safety device to guard against accidents.
