Relax - Self Catering in the Charente
The self catering accommodation comprises of two luxury period properties set within a private secluded courtyard garden, in the middle of the French Charente countryside. They are adjacent to our house and have independent access via a gate, and a secure shaded parking area.
We have personally overseen (and executed) the complete renovation of the two buildings into luxury gites or holiday cottages; and in doing so have included all of the quality elements that we believe to be vital in making this a special place to stay. With her experience as an interior designer, Leighan has dressed the properties with flair and imagination, using French antiques alongside comfortable modern pieces. With pure cotton bedlinen and white fluffy towels, feather pillows, handmade soaps and a basket of goodies to welcome you upon your arrival; we have done everything we can to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
Across the courtyard from the gites, in the old piggery is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier for use by guests.
Barbecue facilities are available in the garden.
The newly built 10m x 5m swimming pool is in a separate private garden area and has a large sun terrace with comfortable sun loungers and a lovely shaded seating area.
The House (Gite Sleeps 4)

A traditional stone built house that has recently been totally refurbished and modernised, whilst retaining original features like wooden floors and beamed ceilings. Facing south west across the courtyard with views over open countryside from the rear of the property; the house is very light and airy and is decorated in a relaxed French country style, with antique linen curtains, pure cotton bed linen, feather pillows and many personal touches.
The ground floor is open plan with tiled floors, a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, fridge and freezer, full size oven and 4 plate hob; a dining area with seating for four and a comfortable lounge area with open fireplace. There is satellite TV with DVD player and a music system with CD.
Upstairs there is a new bathroom with a bath with shower over, wash hand basin and wc, a comfortable and spacious main bedroom with queen size four-poster bed, wardrobe and dressing table. The second bedroom has bunk beds and also plenty of clothes storage.
Outside is a lovely shaded pergola with table and chairs for four people.

The Barn/Chai (Gite Sleeps 6)

The recently converted stone Chai (a local word for a barn built for the storage of Cognac) adjoins the house and also faces southwest across the courtyard. The ground floor is very large, light and spacious with exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings and has double French doors leading to a private, covered patio that is ideal for al-fresco dining. There is a large traditional style kitchen with dishwasher, full size electric oven, 4plate hob, fridge and freezer. The dining area has seating for 6 people and there is a large and comfortable lounge area with satellite TV with DVD player and a music system with CD.
Upstairs is the main bedroom with queen size iron bed and a luxury en-suite shower room. Bedroom 2 is large and has twin antique lit bateau beds and bedroom 3 has two pretty iron beds. The second bathroom has a bath with shower over, wash hand basin and wc. All bedrooms have large freestanding wardrobes with plenty of space for storage.
